IU #015: Need a Job? Here's a LinkedIn Content Strategy (That Works)

As a career coach, people come to me asking how to land job offers.

One way to increase your chances is to create LinkedIn posts. Unfortunately, most people don’t know where to start.

Today, I will reveal what I teach my coaching clients.

I created a content strategy designed to help them land a job. Now, I want to share it with you.

This strategy has taken people from being too shy to post to landing job offers within weeks. This isn’t just a theory. It’s the exact strategy I have seen work time and time again.

Let’s get started.

Where Most People Go Wrong

Here is the problem people make when they write online. They worry so much about themselves that they forget about the reader.

99% of writers start without considering who their audience is. This leads them to post random stuff with no particular reader in mind.

Then they wonder why no one reads it.

How to Create Content That Gets Results

If you want to land a job, the aim of your posts is to drive people to your LinkedIn profile page.

But not just any people. Your audience can be:

  1. Fellow Job-Seekers: To meet others on the same journey.

  2. Industry Professionals: To build professional relationships.

  3. Recruiters & Hiring Managers: To grab the attention of decision-makers.

By sending these people to your profile page, they can find your resume and portfolio and be able to read your story. After that, good things happen.

Your LinkedIn Post Content Strategy

Here’s a basic content strategy that will help drive each of these audiences to your profile page:

1) Fellow Job-Seekers:

- Share Your Journey:

Talk about your experiences, challenges, and learnings. People can offer advice or share their stories in return.

- Seek Feedback:

Post your resume or portfolio and ask for constructive criticism. This is a great way to improve.

- Share Resources:

If you find a resource, then share it. People will return the favour. Job-hunting is tough, but teamwork makes it easier.

2) Industry Professionals:

- Show Thought Leadership:

Sharing your insights is a great way to mingle with your peers. You’ll be respected as a subject matter expert.

- Ask Questions:

Engage with fellow professionals. If someone has the job you want, learn from them.

- Network:

People ask me, ‘How can I get people to care about my portfolio?’ The answer is you don’t. You get them to care about you. Share your story and your goals. People will root for you. Suddenly, life seems so much easier.

3) Recruiters & Hiring Managers:

- Highlight Your Achievements:

Share any awards, certifications, or milestones that relate to your desired job role.

- Demonstrate Skills:

Post about projects you've worked on, challenges you've overcome, or any new skills you’ve acquired.

- Post Content Relevant to Your Dream job:

If there's a particular company you're eyeing, post insights that demonstrate your relevant work.

Big News

Last week, I hinted that something big was coming.

I’ve spent the last few months working with clients to create LinkedIn posts that can help you land a job.

After months of testing them, I want to share them with you.

Instead of thinking about what to post on LinkedIn, you can follow these templates that worked for my clients.

They were carefully designed for job seekers to say the right things to the right people in the right way.

If you are trying to land a job through online networking, they will be a game changer for you. They are easy to use and remove 90% of the stress from creating content.

All you have to do is personalise them, add your story or edit them to be in your own voice.
